Moscow 4th in the World
Moscow ranks 4th among top potential tourist destinations of the future!
The respected travel guide TripAdvisor placed Moscow in the top 5, at number 4, out of the 15 most prospective and developing tourist destinations in the world.
The report gave credit to Moscow's status at the political, architectural and business center of Russia, giving it great promise for the future. The Moscow Tourism Commission noted that the city hosted 11 percent more foreign visitors than the previous year in 2011.
More than 3 million people visit Moscow each year, however 80 percent say that they did not plan to return to the city.
In order to make Moscow more attractive to foreign tourists, the city council has made such steps as setting up a English language hotline to inform tourists about major attractions in the city. The hotline also serves as an emergancy service, where operators can transfer calls to hospitals, embassies and so on.
In addition, the large and often complicated Moscow metro has been transliterated into English, therefore making it easier to navigate for foreign tourists who can't read the Russian Cyrillic alphabet.
Furthermore, signs in English have appeared around the city to direct tourist to major tourist attractions.
