This is one of Moscow’s most interesting, central areas. When leaving Kropotkinskaya metro station you will see the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, its territory includes not only the Cathedral, but also a museum and a viewing platform, you can visit all of them - or just sit on the Moskva River embankment and enjoy the view. Almost every building on Prechistenka street has its own history. Most of them were built in the XVI-XIX centuries and were owned by the most famous artists and poets. Prechistenka used to be Moscow’s main street in the XVIIth century. It was used as a main thoroughfare between the Kremlin and the Novodevichiy Monastery - all within easy walking distance. The street got its name in honor of a famous icon which is still kept by the Monastery. Only 2 minutes of walking separate you from the gallery of Zurab Tserteli , one of the most well-known contemporary Russian sculptors. Take a walk down the lanes leading to the Old Arbat – and you will breath in the atmosphere of ancient Moscow.
